LOL! I was thirsty!
Akaka Falls was beautiful and I am so glad we started our day here! I played the Jurassic Park theme song as we walked the trail. Yes, that really happened!
Rainbow Falls was the next stop on our agenda. It was less impressive that Akaka Falls, but we had fun nonetheless.
After the Rainbow Falls we made our way to Volcanoes National Park. Our volcano adventure began with a drive all the way through the park to where the 2003 lava flow took out the road at the park. This was my favorite part of the volcano. It was really cool to see where the road was then wasn't. We also saw the beautiful cliffs that the lava has formed over the years. Once we finished exploring this section of volcano we had a picnic lunch then headed back up!
I wonder why the road is closed... |
I am pretty sure this has been in a movie! |
The rest of the volcano was pretty fun. We walked ALOT and took a ton of pictures! TJ was a good sport for the most part, but gave up at the end! We explored craters, the active volcano, and a lava tube! We spent the whole rest of our day at the volcano. If you were an avid hiker there were many many more places to explore! I highly recommend it!
Lava Tube! |
Inside the lava tube, however all it looks like is a dark picture! |
The active volcano! |
On the family side of the house, I am enjoying chatting with and getting to know our Pemberton family even more in the evening. We usually only spend Thanksgiving day together and that is about it, so this is kind of fun! I have a niece Mila, who I haven't had much of a chance to get to know since I have been with TJ and I enjoy her a great deal! That girl has got a good head on her shoulders and I bet she does something great! It's been fun so far and this will be an experience that I will cherish forever!
Tomorrow should be exciting! We are going to zip line across a rain forest! Hopefully, I can get Mr. Pemberton to smile more!
See ya tomorrow,
Leigha
